Generator Start Wiring Monitor

Overview

The CS0-RSP-GWM-3-3 Generator Start Wiring Monitor provides continuous, independent supervision of the 3-wire engine start circuit between up to three Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) and their generators. Wall-mounted and installed up to 1,000 feet from each monitored ATS, it gives facility staff immediate visibility into engine-start wiring integrity long before a real start event ever happens.

Each ATS/generator pair is wired, supervised, and alarmed completely independently — a wiring fault or start request on one circuit opens only that circuit's generator relay, while a front-panel LED, common alarm relay, and audible alarm flag the condition immediately. All generator relays open together only if the panel itself loses power — a fail-safe behavior that ensures the generators can still start even if the monitoring panel fails. Built in a rugged ABS enclosure meeting the UL 508A Open Industrial Control Panel standard, the panel is designed to facilitate compliance with NEC Article 700.10(D)(3) engine start signal monitoring requirements.

The Generator Wire Monitor family scales from a single ATS/generator pair up to six, so the same panel design covers everything from a single-generator mechanical room to a multi-generator central plant.

Choose Your Configuration

he Generator Wire Monitor is built to order based on how many ATS-to-generator pairs you need to supervise — from 1 up to 6, all on the same panel platform and firmware.

CS0-RSP-GWM-3-3 — 3 ATS Inputs (SKU: CS0-RSP-GWM-3-3) Independently supervises three ATS/generator start circuits from a single panel — the standard configuration for multi-generator sites.

Additional Configurations — 1, 2, 4, 5, or 6 ATS Inputs The same panel design and firmware support 1 to 6 ATS/generator pairs. Contact Pythia Technologies to configure a panel for your site.

All configurations offer the same independent per-unit supervision, alarm, and communication capability — only the number of ATS/generator pairs changes.

Key Features

  •  ✅ Monitor up to 3 independent ATS-to-generator start circuits (up to 1,000 ft each)
  • ✅ Three front-panel LED status indicators — one per ATS/generator pair
  • ✅ Independent per-unit fault detection and generator start relay
  • ✅ Common alarm relay output, plus audible alarm and silence/acknowledge button
  • ✅ Continuous supervision of NO and NC wiring — detects open, short-to-ground, and short-to-battery faults
  • ✅ Fail-safe design — generator(s) start on wiring fault or loss of panel power
  • ✅ Alarm latching, configurable per unit
  • ✅ Modbus/RTU standard, with Modbus/TCP, BACnet/IP, or SNMP options
  • ✅ ABS enclosure, IP67 rated, UL94-V0; meets UL 508A Open Industrial Control Panel standard
  • ✅ Larger configurations available — up to 6 ATS inputs

Applications & Use Cases

The Generator Wire Monitor is ideal for:

  • Data centers and mission-critical facilities with emergency generator systems
  • Hospitals and healthcare facilities (NEC 700 life safety / legally required standby)
  • Multi-generator sites requiring independent start-circuit supervision
  • Facilities with multiple ATS-to-generator pairs needing centralized status
  • Code-driven engine start signal monitoring per NEC 700.10(D)(3)

Example use cases:

  • Supervising the 3-wire engine start circuit between an ATS and its generator to meet NEC 700.10(D)(3)
  • Centralized, independent monitoring of up to 6 ATS/generator start circuits from one panel
  • Integration with BMS or SCADA systems via Modbus, BACnet/IP, or relay outputs
  • Verifying wiring integrity between ATS and generator before commissioning

Technical Specifications

  • Model Shown: CS0-RSP-GWM-3-3 (3 ATS inputs, 3 generator outputs — larger configurations available)
  • ATS Input: Supervised +5VDC through NO and NC contacts, independent per unit
  • Generator Output Relays: Form C (NO/C/NC), one per ATS; normally closed, opens on that circuit's fault or start request; all open on panel power loss
  • Maximum Distance: 1,000 ft. from panel to each ATS
  • Common Alarm Output: Form C relay, Class 2 circuits, 6A @ 250VAC / 30VDC
  • Panel Ratings: ABS enclosure, IP67 rated, UL94-V0
